L.A based Blakkat aka Mark Bell is the man behind seminal deep house label Shaboom and a key part of the early deep house scene in the North West of the UK. Mark has been a featured vocalist for King Britt’s Sylk 130 Project as well as for Funk D’ Void and released on Josh Wink’s seminal Ovum label and more. Add this to a CV that includes DJ Sneak, Marshall Jefferson, Chez Damier and Zero 7. Shaboom Records, named in honor of Blackpool’s seedy underground acid-house club Shaboo by label founders Mark “Blakkat” Bell, Doc Martin, Majik Johnson, and Ben Davis (Paperecordings, Flash Atkins). Over the label’s history, releases such as UBU’s ‘Pixels’, Shaboom’s ‘Sweet Sensation’, Blakkat’s ‘Full Circle’ and Eddie Amador’s ‘Holy Spirit’ established Shaboom as one of the hottest and most consistent quality dance music imprints in the UK.
About UM Records
UM Records was launched in September 2011 by untitledmusic founder Richie Hartness with more than two decades of promoting, writing, playing and introducing new music to his name.
The labels aim has always been to provide a springboard to new producers, often teaming them up with more established names on releases. UM has been a rich source of up and coming names, many of whom have gone on to big name labels following their time being promoted by UM and all have benefitted from
advice and guidance on how to progress from unknown producer to being an in demand name and much sought after producer for other labels around the world.
Across digital and vinyl platforms UM’s sound is ever evolving, always emotive, often challenging the ‘expected sound’ and a name you can trust to bring you the very best of deep house.
